Russia has achieved a new economic feat, this time setting a record in grain exports. The country, during the first half of the 2023-2024 agricultural year, established a new benchmark in the export of grains and legumes. This announcement comes from the analytical center “Rusagrotrans,” the largest operator for the transportation of agricultural goods in the country.
Bumper Crop: Russia’s Record Grain and Legume Exports
The export of grains and legumes, including countries within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), reached record levels across all key indicators in the first half of the 2023-2024 season, spanning from July 1 to December 31, 2023. The total volume of grain exports, encompassing legumes and flour, amounted to approximately 39 million tonnes. This figure represents a 19% increase from the previous maximum of 32.7 million tonnes achieved in the 2020-2021 season.
In particular, wheat exports reached 27.6 million tonnes, surpassing the three-year record by 3.8%. Barley exports also marked a significant milestone, totaling 5 million tonnes, a remarkable 27% increase over the previous record set in the 2020-2021 season at 3.95 million tonnes.
