In 2023, Russia sent a record volume of dried chickpeas to foreign markets. In physical terms, the export volume exceeded 565,000 tons, which is 2.2 times higher than the 2022 level, surpassing the previous maximum set in 2019 (472,000 tons).
The largest buyers of Russian chickpeas in 2023 were Turkey, Pakistan, and Egypt.
The majority of chickpeas are grown in the territories of five regions: Volgograd, Saratov, Samara, Orenburg, and Rostov Oblasts.
It is worth noting that in 2023, Russia exported over 3.7 million tons of legumes worth 1.4 billion dollars. This is a new record, doubling the figure for 2022.
Earlier, there were reports of a significant increase in beef exports as well.
