Russia has entered the top 10 countries successfully implementing artificial intelligence (AI) in terms of overall computational power. This was announced by Maxim Reshetnikov, the Minister of Economic Development of Russia, while presenting a report at a plenary session dedicated to artificial intelligence at the “Russia” exhibition. The overall level of AI implementation in key economic sectors has reached 31.5%. Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Dmitry Chernyshenko emphasized that the development of AI could change the economic landscape, transitioning it from scarcity to abundance and reducing production costs.

Maxim Reshetnikov also noted that issues such as labor shortages, competition, and wage growth could be addressed with the help of artificial intelligence by optimizing processes and improving product quality. He emphasized that the national strategy for AI development until 2030 has already been formulated by the government.

The Minister stressed the need to maintain the trend of AI implementation and called for mass adoption of the technology in various industries. He highlighted that supporting businesses utilizing AI requires systemic measures such as lifting regulatory constraints and utilizing experimental legal regimes. He also underscored the importance of developing fundamental science, including computation methods for neural networks and optimization of computations.
