Russia does not intend to disconnect from the global internet. Meanwhile, the Russian segment of the internet (Runet) is preferred because it is secure and protected from significant external pressure.

This was stated by Alexander Khinshtein, who heads the State Duma Committee on Information Policy. The Russian internet has already turned 30 years old. It has come a long way and has penetrated into all spheres of Russian life, added Khinshtein.

He also noted that restrictions on prohibited content are imposed in the Runet, destructive messages are blocked, and efforts are made to combat various types of fraud.

At the same time, the deputy emphasized the need for the prompt adoption of legislative norms related to artificial intelligence. Some initiatives in this area are already being implemented. For example, the “Code of Ethics in the Field of Artificial Intelligence” has been developed.

Earlier, Alexander Khinshtein described the blocking of many channels of the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) in the regions on YouTube as a tool of information warfare against Russia.
