The Central Bank of Russia has announced the launch of the “Coin Week” campaign, which will run until June 2, 2024. During this period, individuals can exchange coins for banknotes at any bank or request to have the amount of coins deposited into a bank account.

This announcement was made on the official website of the Central Bank. The campaign is taking place nationwide, with approximately 4,000 branches of 146 banks participating.

This is the second such campaign. The first exchange of coins for banknotes in Russia occurred in 2023, resulting in the collection of 20 million coins weighing a total of 87 tons, with a value of 83 million rubles.

Previously, economist Andrey Sirotkin discussed the services that banks attempt to sell to Russians under the guise of deposits. These include various insurance policies that require regular contributions.

Some banks also offer customers the opportunity to invest in securities or precious metals, promising high returns. However, it should be noted that such investments carry significant risks.

The expert emphasized that the most reliable way to preserve and increase funds is to place money in a deposit account, especially since interest rates in Russia are currently at relatively high levels.
