Russia is considering implementing a 50% discount on the cost of tow truck services and impound lot fees, reports the Telegram channel SHOT.

The initiative comes from the New People party, whose members pointed out that, for the past 10 years, Russians have been able to pay traffic fines with a 50% discount. However, this measure does not currently apply to the costs associated with towing and impoundment for illegal parking.

Currently, the minimum tariff in Moscow is 6,500 rubles. Residents of the capital can benefit from a 25% discount if they pay for the towing before retrieving their vehicle from the impound lot.

The New People party believes that the proposed discount will help Muscovites save money and encourage them to pay fines promptly.

Previously, the party suggested issuing driver’s licenses for 15 years instead of the current 10 years if the driver has not violated traffic rules. Drivers caught violating the rules would still receive licenses valid for only 10 years. The authors of the initiative believe this approach will incentivize motorists to adhere to the regulations.
