In the past 24 hours, 40 locations across Russia, including nine regional centers, have recorded temperature milestones, stated Yevgeny Tishkovets, a specialist from the Fobos Weather Center, in a comment to TASS.
According to Tishkovets, abnormal heat has swept across the Russian Plain and the southern Far East, setting new records. In Moscow, the temperature reached +32 degrees Celsius, surpassing the previous record set in 1890. In Tver, the temperature hit +33.7 degrees (previous record: +32.9 degrees in 1999), in Vladimir +32.3 degrees (+30 degrees in 1964), and in Tula +31.8 degrees (+30.6 degrees in 1991).
Temperature records were also observed in Anapa, Yalta, Vologda, Vladivostok, and other localities across Russia, Tishkovets noted.
He added that on July 3, a “tongue” of warmth will advance through Donbass, the Black Earth region, as well as the Middle Volga, Volga-Vyatka region, Perm Territory, and the Middle Urals. It is likely that new temperature records will be set today.
