Roscosmos plans to allocate 50 billion rubles for the creation of a conveyor production line for satellites weighing up to 500 kg, announced Yuri Borisov, the head of the state corporation. He highlighted the successful experience of young specialists from Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems (ISS) who, after visiting KAMAZ, organized a conveyor assembly for light satellites without significant capital investment.
Borisov stated that this experience will be utilized to establish a conveyor for the assembly of heavy satellites. However, he emphasized the need for new technological equipment, not just the replication of the existing conveyor for satellites up to 100 kg.
Satellites weighing up to 500 kg have become a key focus in modern space exploration and will form the basis for in-demand low Earth orbit constellations. Borisov also mentioned that the “Grifon” satellites will have a resolution of approximately 2.5 meters per pixel.
