Russia plans to gradually implement a new breathalyzer for scooter riders over the next two years. The development is being spearheaded by the scooter rental service Whoosh. In addition, work is underway on technology to prevent scooter use by individuals who are prohibited due to age or other reasons.
The project is still in progress, so details are scarce. The device will not check for alcohol vapors; instead, citizens will be asked to take a cognitive abilities test.
Experts speculate that this will involve solving puzzles and assessing attentiveness before riding.
The service will evaluate the intoxication level or adequacy of the client based on 50 criteria. For example, sudden acceleration and braking, as well as improper handling on straight and even roads, will impact the rating assigned to scooter renters.
