The Russian government is implementing a state language policy aimed at restricting the use of foreign and obscene words. This is outlined in the Concept of State Language Policy, approved by the government.
Main Directions of the State Language Policy:
- Enhancing Russian Language Education:
- Improving the quality of teaching Russian as the state language of the Russian Federation and the languages of the peoples of the Russian Federation within general, professional, and additional education frameworks.
- Specialist Training:
- Enhancing the system for training specialists in Russian language in universities.
- Public Language Use:
- Strengthening control over the public use of language and preventing the dissemination through media of materials containing words and expressions that do not comply with the norms of modern Russian literary language, including profanity.
- Limiting Foreign Words:
- Restricting the use of foreign words.
Additionally, the concept supports the rights of citizens living abroad to learn the Russian language.
In the near future, there are plans to expand internship programs for foreign students studying in Russian, and to support the work of foreign scientific organizations that study the Russian language.
