Russian cosmonauts currently stationed aboard the International Space Station (ISS) have conveyed their heartfelt congratulations to their compatriots on the significant occasion—Victory Day. The corresponding video was released by the state corporation “Roscosmos.”

“Dear friends, the crew of the Russian segment of the ISS wholeheartedly congratulates you on Victory Day!” stated the commander of the Russian cosmonaut squad, Oleg Kononenko.

He emphasized that nearly 80 years have passed since the victory over fascist Germany, and with each passing year, the number of those who fought for their Motherland dwindles. That’s why it’s crucial to remember and speak about the heroism of our ancestors.

Cosmonaut Nikolay Chub added that on May 9, the entire Russia expresses gratitude and reverence to the veterans who liberated the world from Nazism, including at the cost of their lives. Frontline soldiers and their contemporaries had to endure the horrors of war, but they managed to return to peaceful life and rebuild the country destroyed by the Nazis.

Thanks to the feat of the veterans, Russia was able to send the first man into space, explained Chub.

According to cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin, it’s essential to always remember and honor those who emerged victorious in the Great Patriotic War, as well as to recount the heroism of these individuals to our children.

“A person is immortal as long as they are remembered,” concluded Grebenkin, extending congratulations to all Russians on Victory Day.
