From 2025, Russia will increase the minimum cost of living. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced this during a meeting with deputy prime ministers.

He noted that previously, the size of the minimum cost of living was set in the budget law. Now it will be determined based on the median income. This indicator is crucial for assessing the living standards of Russians and is used in budget formation. The minimum cost of living is also essential for developing social programs and measures to support citizens.

Mikhail Mishustin emphasized that regions will independently set the minimum cost of living, taking into account its linkage to allowances and benefits. This includes payments to Russians whose income falls below the minimum cost of living.

During the meeting, Mishustin also reminded that ensuring social guarantees is a priority for the government. Russian citizens should receive their entitled payments from the state within the prescribed timeframe and in full. He requested deputy prime ministers to oversee the fulfillment of this task nationwide.

Additionally, it was announced that Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko instructed the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Digital Development to work on extending the preferential mortgage terms for IT specialists by June 20, 2024.
