Roskachestvo (RusStandard) reported that halal certificates issued in Russia are now recognized in the Gulf countries. The certification body for halal products and services “Roskachestvo-halal” has successfully passed accreditation at the Gulf Cooperation Counsel Accreditation Center (GAC), which allows it to work not only in Russia, but also in the markets of the Persian Gulf countries – this is the first Russian organization that has such opportunity.

In addition, Roskachestvo-Halal also undergoes audits of other countries that are priority for the export of Russian products and services.

The head of the Roskachestvo-Halal certification body, Yusuf Rikov, believes that Russian manufacturers can occupy a significant share of the global market for halal goods and services, given that the Muslim population is about 2 billion people, and the volume of this market exceeds $2 trillion.

Sergei Mitin, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Agricultural and Food Policy and Environmental Management, noted that accreditation by the GAC will allow Russian manufacturers of halal products to export their products to many countries where a certificate is mandatory, which, in turn, will lead to growth of exports, tax deductions and budget revenues of Russia.

Alexander Stepanov, an agrarian from St. Petersburg, shared his opinion on guidance with our editors.

“The recognition of Russian halal certificates in the Gulf countries is a significant step for Russian manufacturers and exporters. This opens up new opportunities for expandingng the export of halal products and services from Russia to the large and in-demand market of the Muslim population. For us, these are the markets of 7 countries in the region at once – there are great prospects for development,” the expert believes.

In his opinion, the recognition of our halal certificates simplifies the process of exporting Russian halal products. Russian manufacturers will no longer have to undergo additional certification procedures in each country separately, which will significantly save time and money.

“This will allow them to quickly enter new markets and increase export volumes,” noted Alexander Stepanov. — What is also important is that the recognition of Russian halal certificates confirms the high quality and compliance of domestic products with the requirements of international standards. This strengthens consumer confidence in Russian halal products, and this should lead to increased demand in both local and international markets.”
