The April indexation of pensions will affect not only the elderly
From April 1st, social pensions for Russians will be indexed by 7.5%. For this purpose, 37.5 billion rubles from the federal budget are allocated. The indexation will affect about 4 million Russians. The exact amount of the increase in social pensions is calculated based on the growth rate of the subsistence minimum for elderly citizens in the past year.
Such payments are provided to individuals who are not entitled to receive an insurance pension. These are citizens who have not accumulated the required insurance length of service or have not accumulated the necessary number of pension points. In 2024, 15 years of service and 28.2 points are required for an insurance pension. At the same time, a social pension is granted 5 years later than an insurance one.
The list of recipients also includes disabled children and adults, students attending full-time education up to the age of 23, who have lost one or both parents, as well as orphans and children of deceased single mothers.
The indexation will be carried out automatically. No additional applications need to be submitted. The average amount of such a pension is expected to be around 13,500 rubles.
A 7.5% indexation will also be carried out for certain categories of citizens, including:
— servicemen and volunteers disabled due to military injury; — WWII veterans; — citizens affected by radiation or man-made disasters.
Another indexation is planned for August 1st. Pensioners who are still working will receive an increase. No applications are required for this either. The exact amount of the increase will depend on the contributions to the Pension Fund and the period of work in the past year.
