Scientists from Omsk State Medical University (Omsk GMU) have developed a series of gel formulations to prevent the development of tooth decay and treat it at the initial stage. Ten formulations have been presented, and the 11th will soon be patented.
Galina Skripkina, the head of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the Dental Faculty of Omsk GMU, noted that these are not ordinary toothpaste but medicinal preparations for conducting courses of treatment.
“We managed to combine the incompatible in the developed preventive agents: a three-component gel with fluoride, calcium, and phosphorus for home use and at the professional level in the dental chair,” added the expert.
The treatment course takes place twice a year and lasts 2-3 weeks. This is sufficient to maintain the optimal level of mineral exchange in the oral cavity for six months.
