A study published in The Lancet predicts a decline in the world’s population in the coming decades. According to scientists, this will happen for the first time since the pandemic of the plague in the 14th century.

The decline in the birth rate is attributed to two main factors: the level of education among women and access to birth control. By 2050, the birth rate in Russia will decrease to 1.33, and by 2100, to 1.21.

The study also helped understand that by 2050, the birth rate will be insufficient to sustain the population in 155 out of 204 countries worldwide, and by 2100, this number will increase to 198.

The majority of newborns will come from African countries, leading to population declines in many countries worldwide.

Scientists predict that the Earth’s population will peak in the 2080s, with 10.4 billion people living on the planet. Then a decline will begin.

The decline in birth rates will change the global economy and require society to be reorganized, creating stiff competition for migrants to sustain economic growth in many countries worldwide.
