The situation regarding influenza and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) in the country was discussed by officials from Rospotrebnadzor. Nothing extraordinary is happening in 2024.

As usual, a significant decline in the number of cases is expected by the end of April. Over the past week, the incidence of influenza and ARVI has decreased by 13.8% in Russia. The incidence rate of coronavirus has also improved. There have been 24 thousand cases reported in the past week, which is 13.4% less than the previous week.

It was previously reported that the first case of herpes B virus infection, also known as “monkeypox,” was confirmed in Hong Kong. A 37-year-old man, who was previously healthy, has fallen ill. He was admitted to the hospital with a high fever. Doctors have assessed the man’s condition as critical. Tests confirmed the presence of herpes B virus. The cause of infection was traced back to an earlier scratch from a monkey.

Healthcare professionals urge people not to panic about the “monkeypox” virus. It is extremely rare for it to be transmitted from person to person. Without contact with animals, contracting the virus is virtually impossible.
