Russian scientists from Novosibirsk State University (NSU) have developed a unique impregnation for creating a surface coating on fabric that exhibits photoactivity. This innovation can disintegrate organic substances and microorganisms when exposed to light.

The team of scientists has already patented the composition. The coating possesses unique properties enabling the breakdown of chemical substances, macromolecules such as DNA and RNA, and also the deactivation of viruses and bacteria that come into contact with the fabric’s surface.

Experts highlight the potential applications of such fabrics in manufacturing workwear for medical professionals, laboratory staff, and those working in food production. These fabrics have self-cleaning properties, enhancing their durability and functionality in humid and warm climates. They are less susceptible to moisture, harmful fungi, and bacteria, ensuring prolonged use and hygiene.
