Salaries of Russians have increased amid the growth of the Russian economy, stated Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov during hearings in the State Duma.
In 2023, Russia’s GDP grew by 3.6%, and industrial production increased by 3.8%, a high not seen in the past decade. The most significant outcome is that despite challenging conditions, it was possible to achieve growth in Russians’ incomes, said the minister.
He noted that real wages increased by 8.2% in 2023, and real incomes grew by 5.8% compared to the previous year.
At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Siluanov mentioned that there are now funds available for indexing pensions for working pensioners, which were previously unavailable.
The State Duma passed in the second reading a bill on indexing pensions for working pensioners starting from February 1, 2025. The document was developed by deputies from the United Russia party at the request of President Vladimir Putin.
Earlier, the State Duma explained that the amount of the indexation would be added to the pension that working pensioners receive. The increased pension, accounting for the period without indexation (2016-2024), will be available after retirement.
