The first launches of one of the instruments of the “Meteor-M” No. 2-4 satellite were conducted by Roscosmos, featuring the Multizone Satellite Imaging Complex-2 (MSIC-2). Specialists have now unveiled the initial photographs of the Arctic.
MSIC-2 is designed for capturing images of Earth in various visible and infrared electromagnetic radiation ranges. The imaging strip’s width is approximately 1000 km, with a spatial resolution of 60 meters.
The acquired data is utilized for monitoring land use, agriculture, forestry, natural fires, floods, snow cover, ice conditions, volcanic activity, as well as hazardous natural phenomena such as typhoons, cyclones, and hurricanes.
To recall, the “Meteor-M” satellite, launched from the Vostochny Cosmodrome, successfully entered orbit on February 29.
