In the Public Chamber of St. Petersburg, agreements have been signed for cooperation between the Public Headquarters for Election Observation and candidates for the post of governor, as well as political parties, in preparation for the 2024 election campaigns.

“The agreements were signed to establish partnership relations between participants in the electoral process for observing the elections and ensuring the participation of civil society representatives and political parties in election monitoring,” emphasized Deputy Chairman of the Public Chamber and Head of the Public Headquarters, Alexander Vakhmistrov.

The agreements have been signed with regional branches of the following parties:

  • All-Russian Political Party “Rodina” — Candidate: Maria Mikhaylova
  • Russian Party of Freedom and Justice — Candidate: Alexander Abdin
  • Direct Democracy Party — Candidate: Sergey Artemov
  • Russian Ecological Party “Greens” — Candidate: Pavel Bragin
  • Progress Party — Candidate: Svetlana Ivanova
  • Communist Party of Russia — Secretary of the Central Committee: Alexander Rakhmanin

Maria Mikhaylova noted that by signing the agreement, all participants and the Public Chamber confirmed their interest in conducting democratic and legitimate elections and committed to adhering to these principles throughout the election campaign, including in the formation of observer teams.

“I believe that elections should be fair, democratic, and legitimate by default. Nevertheless, I am glad that special attention is being paid to this. Agreements, regulations, and understandings are never superfluous in this matter. The fact that such an important and significant body as the Public Chamber oversees the process indicates that we adhere to principles that are important to everyone, not just in words,” emphasized Maria Mikhaylova.
