The maximum amount of maternity capital for the birth of second and subsequent children in Russia is 833,000 rubles. The payout for the first child is 630,400 rubles. These norms came into effect on February 1, 2024, as reported by the State Duma.
It was also previously announced that lawmakers are considering a bill granting Russians the right to use maternity capital to improve housing conditions immediately after the birth of a child.
Currently, this can only be done after three years. Such a long wait means that Russian families with children cannot improve their living conditions without resorting to credit funds. This creates a negative social effect towards the state. Russian families should have the opportunity to improve housing conditions after the birth of a child by any means, according to the explanatory note to the bill.
The Social Policy Committee of the Federation Council has developed a bill regarding the preliminary assessment of the suitability of housing before its purchase with maternity capital. The Federation Council believes that this law will prevent unscrupulous sellers from selling housing to families with maternity capital. The initiative was supported by the Ministry of Labor and the Social Fund.
