The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) has drafted a bill that includes an expanded list of grounds for the deportation of migrants from Russia, adding 20 new articles.

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin announced that the Duma would support this bill. He emphasized that deputies intend to expedite the review of all proposals from the government, ministries, and agencies related to establishing order in the migration sphere.

According to Vyacheslav Volodin, migration control is currently a critical issue in the country. Deputies understand this, as they receive numerous inquiries from citizens on this topic during interactions in their electoral districts. Therefore, amending migration legislation is a priority task for the State Duma.

Almost daily, media outlets report on offenses committed by migrants. For example, on July 7, 2024, four migrants assaulted two Russians in the Ryazan region. Alexander Bastrykin, head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, ordered a criminal case to be opened. In the Kuban region, migrants assaulted a teenager who reprimanded them for drinking alcohol near the Eternal Flame. In Krasnodar, a mass brawl broke out over a dispute between locals and migrants regarding children’s play on a playground.
