On May 25th, in the city of Sibay, Bashkortostan, the first meeting of the working group for cooperation between Bashkortostan and Uzbekistan took place within the framework of the VI All-Russian Investment Sabantuy “Trans-Urals-2024”. During the meeting, a roadmap for collaboration was drafted, encompassing 278 events.

“Modern Uzbekistan is one of the most reliable and important partners of our republic. Over the past year, the volume of mutual trade has increased by more than 13%, and the demand for products from Bashkortostan has grown by 17%. In total, agreements have been reached with Uzbek colleagues on more than 30 joint projects. We have already proposed a portfolio of sites, and we are now working on their resource capabilities and calculating the financial parameters of the projects,” said Andrey Nazarov, Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan, following the meeting.

Primarily, agreements between the two countries have been made in the industrial sector. Plans include the construction of an oriented strand board (OSB) plant in Sibay with a design capacity of 250,000 cubic meters per year. An agreement of intent has been signed between the Chirchik Chemical-Industrial Technopark (Uzbekistan) and Eco-Progress LLC to establish the production of fuel additives. A memorandum to expand cooperation in the light industry sector has also been signed with the Uztextileprom Association. Additionally, mutual interests have been identified in the agricultural sector: Bashkortostan, a leader in Russia for cattle numbers, is ready to supply livestock to Uzbekistan. Overall, the exchange of products between Bashkortostan and Uzbekistan can be increased manifold, according to Ilshat Fazrakhmanov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan and Minister of Agriculture.

“You know that Uzbekistan has a big problem with water. Seventy percent of the country’s territory is mountainous-desert terrain, where it is very difficult to cultivate any crops. Therefore, I believe we should focus on agriculture and develop this direction. If all this is regulated and your rich experience is applied in Uzbekistan, it will be excellent,” said Dilshod Akhmedov, Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
