The “Meteor-M” satellite successfully reached its target orbit

The rocket launched at 8:43 Moscow time and, after nine minutes and 23 seconds, placed the booster block with the payload into a low Earth orbit. The “Fregat” booster block required two engine ignitions to deliver the “Meteor-M” to an orbit at an altitude of 820 kilometers.

This was the first launch from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in 2024 and the third Russian rocket launch this year. The “Fregat” mission is not yet complete, as it still needs to place other small satellites into the required orbits.

The “Meteor-M” No. 2-4 is intended for hydrometeorological tasks, climate monitoring, studying Earth’s natural resources, and other purposes. The satellite is equipped with unique instruments that allow it to see through clouds, monitor sea and ocean waters, and contribute to forecasting ice conditions.
