Since the beginning of 2024, Russians’ interest in neural networks has increased by 60% compared to the same period in 2023, according to a study conducted by the online education services Bang Bang Education and MAED (both part of the Ultimate Education company).
According to analysts, demand for neural networks for text generation increased by 73% in 2024, while interest in generating images and videos increased by 17%. The popularity of neural networks for text generation exceeds that of similar services used for creating images by almost five times.
The most popular neural network for text generation is ChatGPT (with a 70% increase in interest over the year). In second place is the Russian neural network, YandexGPT (+93%).
Among the neural networks for creating images, the leader is another Yandex product called “Shedevrum” (+117%). Meanwhile, the popular overseas service Midjourney ranks second in Russia, as demand for it decreased by 27% over the year.
The surge in the popularity of neural networks in Russia, according to the study’s authors, is attributed to the curiosity and enthusiasm of compatriots, as well as the desire to master new technologies that will help them develop in their professional field.
