Russian authorities plan to double the additional payments to class supervisors. In addition, incentives for teachers participating in the “Rural Teacher” program will increase. Mentors in rural schools are in high demand: on the program’s official website, there are over 5,000 vacancies.
During his address to the Federal Assembly, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized the importance of teachers in rural areas. According to him, supplements for group supervisors and class leaders in cities and villages with populations up to 100,000 have increased from 5,000 to 10,000 rubles.
The head of state also instructed the development of a new model for teacher compensation by 2026 to equalize salary differences across regions.
Russian authorities aim to increase incentives for teachers participating in the “Rural Teacher” program. Specialists who move to work in villages and district centers are entitled to a one-time payment. Currently, it amounts to 1-2 million rubles depending on the region, and in new Russian regions and the Far East, it is 3 million.
There are also plans to expand the program’s conditions for teachers relocating to settlements with populations of up to 100,000 people.
The “Rural Teacher” program helps address the personnel shortage in rural areas. Increasing incentives is significant support for specialists.
From 2020 to 2022, approximately 4,400 teachers participated in the program.
