Africa Emerges as One of the Most Promising Trade Directions.
Customs officials in the Urals note a growth in mutual trade between Ural enterprises and African countries. In 2023, a large shipment of grains, exceeding 11,000 tons worth $3.6 million, was sent to Africa for the first time. Additionally, Ural alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, cotton wool, felt, and yarn were exported for the first time.
Among the popular Ural goods in Africa are finished products from grains, flour, and starch. Their deliveries increased sevenfold to 260 tons.
For the first time last year, fruits and nuts, almost 50 tons, were imported from Africa to the Urals. Carpets were imported for the first time, with over 18 tons brought in. The import of clothing from Africa to the Urals doubled.
According to Alexey Frolov, the head of the Ural Customs Administration, trade with African countries will continue to grow. The closure of markets in unfriendly countries has acted as a driver for the development of new logistics and foreign trade corridors.
