A study conducted by the travel planning service OneTwoTrip has shed light on the fact that the vast majority of travelers (87.5%) consider food an essential part of their journey.
Interestingly, 74% of respondents are willing to travel to another country solely for the sake of experiencing local culinary delights.
More than 93% of Russians dine at cafes and restaurants while traveling. Of these, 65% research the local cuisine in advance and make a list of dishes they want to try. Additionally, over 61% of respondents mark down specific places where they want to sample the cuisine.
Over 87% of tourists prefer local cuisine. 70.4% of respondents are willing to experiment with gastronomy and try various exotic dishes. Unusual delicacies often attract travelers in Asian countries such as Vietnam and Thailand.
According to respondents, the most delicious food is found in Italy and Thailand: more than 21% of Russians love pizza and pasta, while over 16% enjoy Thai mango and seafood.
Speaking about gastronomic preferences overall, travelers most enjoy Georgian cuisine (23.2%), Caucasian cuisine (20.3%), and Russian cuisine (13.5%).
