This year, there has been a significant increase in demand for tours during the May holidays: reservations for rooms in health resorts and hotels in Crimea have increased by 20-50%, while the Krasnodar Krai has once again become the most popular destination for tourists.
Resorts Abroad
In Turkey, the beach season starts later, but hotels already offer travelers a variety of entertainment, including concerts featuring popular artists. The average cost of such tours ranges from 150,000 to 210,000 rubles for two people for 5 nights.
May in Malaysia is not the best time for a vacation, but it allows for savings and avoids huge tourist crowds. Moreover, Russians do not need a visa to travel there. However, the average expenditure is around 200,000-250,000 rubles.
Russian Resorts
The Association of Tour Operators of Russia noted that tourists’ preferences for the May holidays remain unchanged. Fellow citizens most often choose the Krasnodar Krai, but this year Anapa has become more popular than Sochi due to the greater number of hotels offering all-inclusive packages, as well as pools and children’s buffets.
A tour to Anapa for the May holidays is sold for 15,000-17,000 rubles without transportation.
Time to Go to Crimea
Booking hotels with developed infrastructure in Crimea for May is at 50-70%, and during the holidays, it reaches 80-90%.
The Ministry of Resorts and Tourism hopes for warm weather during the May holidays. In this case, tourists can be attracted with a large number of events, including flower festivals, music performances, and many others.
Close to Home and in the Mountains
During the May holidays, Russians also favor trips to neighboring regions. For example, Muscovites choose the Moscow Region, St. Petersburg residents opt for the Leningrad Region, and residents of Kazan prefer tours around Tatarstan. The cost of staying in a good hotel at the beginning of May is 5,000 rubles per day.
Another exotic option for Russians could be a trip to Elbrus, where they can go mountain skiing. Tourists can ascend to 3,800 meters above sea level.
