Only Bones Remain

In the Churapchinsky District of Yakutia, archaeologists unearthed ancient artifacts and the remains of animals believed to belong to the early Pleistocene-Neogene era. Albert Protopopov, the head of the Mammoth Fauna Department at the Yakutia Academy of Sciences and a Doctor of Biological Sciences, revealed that traces of ancient humans and extensive findings of mammoth fauna bones, displaying clear signs of human influence, were discovered at the Paleolithic site in the region.

Archaeologists emphasized that the unearthed artifacts correspond to dating back 30-40 thousand years and are associated with the Dyuktai culture. This discovery site has been enlisted as a priority for excavation, with plans for extensive work at this Paleolithic site in the coming years.

The administration of the Churapchinsky District is supporting these research efforts and intends to foster active collaboration with the Paleontological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and other scientific institutions in the future.
