Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, in a comment to RIA Novosti, spoke about the need to establish new advanced engineering schools in Russia for various sectors of the economy and the public sphere.

According to him, the project of advanced engineering schools, proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin during his address to the Federal Assembly, is aimed at training highly qualified engineers of the new generation who will ensure the technological sovereignty of the country.

Falkov expressed a desire to expand the project by adding another 50 engineering schools to the already selected 50 in various sectors of the economy and social sphere, such as medicine, agriculture, and others. This will improve the quality of education and promote industry-specific directions.

Each engineering school not only educates students but also allows for the solution of specific practical tasks. For example, students at an engineering school, under the guidance of experts from technology companies, are engaged in improving and applying special coatings to the blades of aviation engines.

Similar schools can be created in other areas, such as artificial intelligence or low-tonnage chemistry. There are already schools operating in the field of agriculture and medicine. Some medical universities are currently preparing engineers for the medical field, Falkov concluded.
