Pavel Mizinov, an information security expert from the Central Bank of Russia for the Central Federal District, cautioned Russians against sharing their phone numbers on social media, as it could lead to money theft, he told “Gazeta.Ru.”

Mizinov highlighted the existence of scraping programs that collect data from public pages to build databases used by fraudsters. If a phone number isn’t hidden by privacy settings, individuals may receive suspicious calls from criminals.

Additionally, Mizinov advised against sharing home addresses on social media, as this information can also be exploited by fraudsters. He warned that posting photos of significant purchases or vacations can give criminals insights into a person’s wealth.

Furthermore, the expert emphasized the risk of sharing financial information on social networks, as hacked accounts could result in money being stolen from linked bank cards. He recommended taking the extra time to re-enter data rather than risking the loss of savings.

Mizinov urged Russians to carefully assess the risks before posting any personal information online.
