Russians are planning domestic trips for Russia Day, celebrated on June 12th, although the midweek holiday has dampened enthusiasm.
Yuri Kuznetsov, CEO of Sutokhno.ru, told “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” that bookings on Russia Day are up 15% compared to regular weekdays, though typical weekends see a 20% increase over weekdays.
The most popular cities for bookings on June 12th are St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Kazan, with Kaliningrad and Sochi also in high demand.
The average cost of rental accommodation in Russia has increased by 9.6% over the past year, reaching 4,500 rubles per day. In St. Petersburg, apartments are available for 5,700 rubles per day due to the peak tourist season. In Kazan, the daily rental rate is 5,400 rubles, in Sochi 5,300 rubles, in Moscow 5,000 rubles, and in Kaliningrad 3,800 rubles.
According to Artem Kromochkin from Avito Travel, St. Petersburg accounts for 17% of bookings on Russia Day, with Moscow and Sochi each at 6%, and Kazan at 5%.
Data from Yandex Travel indicates that in mid-June, Russians prefer St. Petersburg (average hotel price per night: 8,300 rubles), Moscow (6,800 rubles), Sochi (8,200 rubles), Kazan (7,700 rubles), and Nizhny Novgorod (7,600 rubles).
Interest in trips to the Altai Republic and Crimea for Russia Day has increased by 39% compared to 2023. Dagestan, Murmansk, and Novosibirsk regions have grown in popularity by 30%, and Voronezh and Rostov regions by 20%.
