Sochi’s pastry chefs have baked the largest berry cake in Russia

In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8th, the women of Sochi were presented with the largest cake in Russia. Local pastry chefs prepared the confection based on a sponge cake weighing over 600 kilograms. After measurements were taken, the achievement was confirmed by experts from the Book of Records of Russia, who presented a certificate to the city administration.

The cake’s ingredients included 110 kilograms of natural cream, 53 kilograms of flour, 82 kilograms of sugar, 220 kilograms of fresh fruits and berries, as well as 1,500 chicken eggs and other locally sourced ingredients from the Krasnodar Krai.

The previous record was held by Yekaterinburg, where a 563-kilogram cake was baked in 2013. The new record was set at the Southern Mole Square of the Sochi Sea Port, in the presence of participants in the “Women’s Mile” run and guests of the resort city. The first to taste the record-breaking cake were the two-time Paralympic champion Olesya Vladikina, teacher Irina Amosova, and pastry chef Vera Chernova.
