The M-12 highway will be opened by the end of the year.
Currently, one of the largest road construction projects in the country is the M-12 expressway connecting Moscow and Kazan. In the history of modern Russia, there have been no precedents of such rapid and effective road construction.
In less than in three years, 810 kilometers of the freeway were built. According to the builders, the works are 95% complete and by the end of the year the construction will be completed. Maximum speed limit of 110 km per hour will be set along the four to six lanes route. There are no traffic lights, nor are there any payment points. The invoice will come automatically thanks to the intelligent vehicle plates reader system.
Getting from one city to another will take just over 6 hours. It is about twice as fast, prior the new highway completion. The whole infrastructure is designed to ensure the stops were kept to a minimum. But if you still need to pull over in order to refuel or rest, this opportunity is thought of. Along the entire route there are «super stations» with showers, laundries, prayer rooms, workout zones and playgrounds.
