Russian citizens are increasingly opting for vacations within their own country. This shift indicates that Russia has overcome its previous dependence on vacations abroad, stated Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Chernyshenko.
He also highlighted the growing demand for domestic tourism, emphasizing the need for corresponding infrastructure. In the Kuzbass region, a ski resort called Sheregesh is being developed. According to Chernyshenko, this project will set a high standard that investors will strive to meet. The governor aims to elevate this vacation destination to a level comparable to the world’s best ski resorts. The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that tourist flow to Kuzbass already exceeds pre-pandemic levels. It is expected that more than 800,000 people will visit the region in 2024.
Dmitry Chernyshenko instructed the Ministry of Economic Development to develop an index that would serve as an indicator of the tourism infrastructure adequacy in Russian regions. Similar indices exist in higher education and sports.
It was previously announced that Tyumen has been recognized as one of the best spa resorts in Russia. Its healing waters rival those found in Karlovy Vary.
